One Year Ago Today

One year ago today, we welcomed this little one into our family. Did I mention that my epidural didn’t work on one side? I should have considered that foreshadowing of the pain and wailing that was to come.

I’m kidding.

Sort of.

More on that later.

The last year has been the longest and shortest of my life, all at once. It’s hard to believe he’s one, but I already can’t imagine our family without him. Mostly I just can’t imagine how much cleaner my house would be.

I’m kidding.

Sort of.

More on that later.

What he cost me in spit-up soaked clothes and sleepless nights, he has more than given back in smooshy kisses.

And he has these curls in the back of his head? They make up for a lot.

So here we are at 12 months: he’s walking, playing peekaboo, and getting into all kinds of trouble. And as of yesterday morning, drinking milk from a sippy cup! He eats like a future linebacker.

When my parents were here last weekend, he climbed UP a slide. Yes, this scares me. Not because he could potentially break his head open (always a possibility), but because of the sheer will it took for him to do it. What in the world will he do next?

I don’t know what the answer will be, but I’m sure it won’t be dull. No no, not dull.

Happy Birthday, Tucker TBear Tucka Wucka Taco Toss!

Just kidding.

Sort of.

More on that later.
